Welcome

Prof Nolan

I am delighted to welcome you to NUI Maynooth - a University that traces its roots to 1795 with the establishment of the Royal College of St Patrick in the town of Maynooth. Today NUI Maynooth is a place of lively contrasts, combining the peaceful and historic beauty of fine eighteenth-century buildings with the dynamism and excitement of modern research and teaching facilities.

While much has changed at Maynooth over the past two centuries, our commitment to scholarship and learning remains central to our mission. In choosing NUI Maynooth either as a student or member of staff, you will become part of a community of scholars dedicated to learning and research. The University is home to outstanding academics who have established our reputation for research and teaching excellence. With over a third of academic staff and 15% of students from abroad, the campus is a stimulating mix of cultural diversity and intellectual rigour.

NUI Maynooth looks outward, engaging with industry and the community to better serve our students, the region and the country. The University has strong links with industry, working in shared research projects with many of Ireland’s leading enterprises, and has developed a particularly strong record, commercialising and developing the research undertaken by our academics.

The University is particularly proud of our 40,000 alumni who hold positions of seniority in teaching, business, academia, politics, industry and the media nationally and internationally.

Whether you are exploring this website as a potential student, member of staff or partner, I invite you to enjoy the exceptional academic experience that is NUI Maynooth.

Warm regards,

Professor Philip Nolan
